I wanted to send a quick update on some changes to the class selection process. All students who desire classes at the center will request classes starting on April 27th. The class request window will stay open until May 14th. Students can request any class they are hoping to take at the center during this request period. Please avoid selecting more than one section of a single class (ex. two different Math 1 sections). Once the window is closed, we will not process the class requests at this time. We will await more information from the Governor regarding any restrictions we may have once we return in August. Once we know these restrictions we will make any necessary adjustments to our schedules and work to adjust requests to accommodate classes to the best of our ability. Our hope is to have their schedule close to what they request, but we will have to take all circumstances into account to ensure we are safely opening our school and serving all students the best we can. Also, just a reminder that these are class requests, so we cannot guarantee your student will get every class they request at the center. If you have any questions about the class selection process or your student's schedule for next year, please contact your PLT. **************************************************************** Statement about Grading for Spring Semester 2020:I wanted to share some important information on grading, and what we're doing for the remainder of the school year.
It has been decided by administration that grades will be taken as of March 13th for the Spring semester. What does this mean? Whatever your grade was before Spring Break will be your grade for the end of the year. There are a few things that can change here. First, if you're not happy with that grade, you can work to increase it. But, don't fear that it will go down. Things are rough right now, and we want to support you. I'll be grading your work based on completion, entering your scores in the grade book at least once per week, to help you grow your understanding of your coursework. If you don't turn something in, it will show up in your portal as a zero, but don't be alarmed, that zero is used just to help track what students are doing. At the end of the semester, if your grade is higher than it was at March 13th, I'll give you the higher grade. If it is lower, no stress, it won't drop for the final grade. Does that mean you can stop working now? No. CBHS has the expectation that you'll continue to grow and progress on your learning. If you are in a situation where schoolwork isn't something you're capable of, you need to contact me as soon as possible. So what will we be doing? I'll be assigning work as normal. In short: 1. Don't worry about failing. 2. Engage with the work as you can. 3. Whatever your best is, do that. 4. You can turn work assigned after March 13 in anytime until 5/14 for full credit. 5. Keep in contact with me. 6. We will get through this moment in time together. 7. Communicate with me if you need anything. Communication is super important right now. I miss you! Ms. Rose (Thank you, Mr. Carr, for letting me modify your message to your students to fit my needs!) ############################################# HOMEROOM OFFICE HOURS:
